The Practice
Breathwork is a therapeutic and transformative process that uses conscious breathing to harmonize the nervous system, release physical and emotional tension, and access profound states of awareness. This practice encompasses a variety of techniques aimed at improving mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
Psychological research has demonstrated the efficacy of breathwork in reducing anxiety and enhancing mood. A study published in the Journal of Contemporary Psychotherapy found that breathwork interventions significantly alleviated symptoms of depression and anxiety, suggesting its potential as a complementary treatment.
From a shamanic perspective, breathwork is viewed as a bridge between the physical and spiritual realms. Indigenous traditions have long utilized breath as a tool for healing and spiritual connection — integrating rhythmic breathing, music, and movement to facilitate deep personal transformation.
